Name: Hazel Potter
Year: 5
House: Gryffindor
Pet: Egyptian Mau cat, Pa'ari
E-owl: here.
History: The Potters had twins, but they
sent one into hiding for both of their sakes. But before Hazel was sent
away, Lily Potter put an ancient spell on her children that bound their
fates- One could not be killed or in mortal peril without the other being
in the same situation at the same moment. This spell was bound with Lily's
sacrifice when facing Voldemort. Thanks to it, Harry was not killed. So
why the lightningbolt? The doctor that brought the twins into the world
was the only person besides Dumbledore and the Potters that knew that the
Potters had a girl as well as Harry. He was a dark wizard, and figured
he would kidnap the girl and bring her to his dark lord, and he expected
he would be greatly rewarded. It was his greatest mistake not to inform
his master of his plan, because it backfired on him. Just when he crept
in to take the one year old baby girl, he fired a spell at her to silence
her (she seemed to sense that he was up to no good and started screaming
at teh sight of him) at the very same moment Voldemort tried to kill Harry.
The spells were not the same, so Harry could not be killed, but since they
were both the victims of spells at the same moment, it sort of backfired
on them as well as their attackers, causing a scar on both of their foreheads.
Hazel's adopted "father" was an auror, and in his rage killed
the intruder in his house that just tried to abduct his child. Since the
man was not only an auror but Dumbledore's nephew-in-law, he was not bothered
about this. Hazel grew up in America with few friends except Pa'ari, her
kitten, whom she considered her best friend in the world. When Voldemort
broke the spell that protected the Potter twins, Dumbledore decided it
was safer for Hazel at Hogwarts where he could keep her safe. He could
not be sure that Voldemort would be ignorant of her existance forever,
and she had no defence against him should he come for her. However, he
thought it best to tell Harry and the other students and faculty that Hazel
was simply a cousin of Harry's, to keep the truth silent as long as he
could.
